Saudi Arabian ministers have held strategic talks with the United Kingdom (UK)’s Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs Yvette Cooper in Riyadh, on expanding cooperation in energy and on airspace management in the Kingdom.

The Saudi Minister of Energy, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, has met with the UK Foreign Secretary, in Riyadh, to review prospects for expanding bilateral cooperation across several fields, particularly in the energy sector and related areas of mutual interest.

The two sides also discussed future opportunities under the Memorandum of Cooperation on energy between the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Government of the United Kingdom, including potential areas for deeper collaboration and knowledge exchange.

Separately, Saudi Minister of Transport and Logistic Services and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) Saleh Al‑Jasser received Cooper and her accompanying delegation at GACA’s headquarters in Riyadh, in the presence of GACA President Abdulaziz Al‑Duailej.

The meeting covered air transport topics of mutual interest, the Kingdom’s airspace management efforts, and air traffic management through advanced technological systems.

Al-Duailej and the UK foreign secretary’s delegation also visited the Area Control Center at King Khalid International Airport, where the delegation was briefed on air traffic monitoring and airspace surveillance systems.

The program included a briefing from Saudi Air Navigation Services on its role in air traffic management, operational safety, and crisis management. At the conclusion of the visit, Saudi Arabia and UK discussed ways to enhance cooperation and exchange expertise in air navigation and airspace management.
