Bahrain’s Seef Properties has sealed an agreement with the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) to join the national KAFA’A Program, an initiative designed to reduce electricity consumption in buildings in private and public sectors.

Under the agreement, Seef Mall – Seef District and Seef Mall – Muharraq will launch technical and operational measures to minimize electricity consumption and enhance energy efficiency in line with national standards to achieve net zero by 2060.

“Our participation in the KAFA’A Program underscores our commitment to improving energy efficiency across our destinations. We are dedicated to adopting best practices in environmental sustainability, advanced technologies, and digital systems to optimize the management and operation of our properties. This step highlights the value of collaboration with government entities in achieving sustainable development goals and reinforces Seef Properties’ role in supporting Bahrain’s efforts to promote environmental sustainability and responsible resource use, in line with Bahrain Economic Vision 2030.”

The program aims to save electricity consumption by around 975 GWh and minimize carbon emissions by about 488,000 tons by 2040. In addition, it will contribute to flattening energy usage during peak hours, reducing the need for additional generation capacity.

The agreement marks a key milestone in Seef Properties’ commitment to implementing smart, sustainable solutions across its portfolio. Recently, the company launched a landmark solar energy project to supply all its destinations with clean energy.

With a total capacity of 8.9 megawatts, the project is expected to generate around 14,000 megawatt-hours of clean electricity annually, reducing carbon emissions by over 10,000 metric tons each year.
