Japanese multinational conglomerate company Sony’s PlayStation DualSense controller is getting two new color options that will start selling soon.

The new colors, Cosmic Red and Midnight Black, are designed around the theme of ‘galaxy’ and will be available globally from next month onwards. The new colors come with a matte finish.

According to Sony, “The Midnight Black version features two subtly different shades of black with light gray detailing to “reflect how we view space through the night sky”. The Cosmic Red version features a more distinct two-tone appearance, and is “inspired by the unique vivid shades of red found throughout the cosmos.”

Both controllers have the same button layout, with the black version having blacked-out keys and the red variant having red keys. Both colors have a slightly blue hue to complement the original white DualSense controller, which has this hue as well.

The new designs swap the white part of the default DualSense controller with red on the Cosmic Red and black on the Midnight Black versions. The blue light around the touchpad remains the same. The new PS5 controllers are identical to the standard black and white controllers and do not have any extra features.

As per the company, “The Midnight Black color scheme will cost $69.99, the same as the standard DualSense controller, while the Cosmic Red will (inexplicably) cost $74.99, a $5 increase over the other two colors.”

Sony has not specified a release date for the new DualSense colorways but has announced that they will be available at participating retailers around the world beginning next month. It added that the exact date will vary by location.
