Sharjah Police’s Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department has introduced a two-year registration license (Mulkia) facility for brand new light vehicles subject to obtaining valid insurance for the same period.

Earlier, new vehicle owners were only able to make registrations for 1 year period.

The initiative is in line with the authorities’ plans to provide high-quality police services to citizens and residents in a manner that meets their demands.

Major General Saif Al-Zari Al Shamsi, commander-in-chief of Sharjah Police, affirmed that the Sharjah Police has adopted the ambitious plan to upgrade services so that the force has an added value that contributes to saving time and effort of the community members.

“The new initiative aims to ensure the provision of all administrative services in accordance with the standards of quality, efficiency and transparency,” Al Shamsi said in a statement.

Lt Col Khaled Al-Kai, director of the Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department, pointed out that in order to avail of this new service, the vehicle owner must present an insurance document valid for two years and pay the required fees for the service.

The official clarified that this new vehicle registration service is optional.
