The business communication platform Slack is planning to add audio features similar to the popular voice-based social networking app Clubhouse, according to the CEO of Slack, Stewart Butterfield.

According to reports, Mr.Butterfield in a Clubhouse room stated about the audio messages feature that Slack is already in testing in the beta version. Similar to voice messages on apps like WhatsApp, Slack users will be enabled to record and send audio messages to others in the app.

Another feature that Slack plans to launch soon is Clubhouse-like audio rooms and this feature will let Slack users join rooms and have audio conversations. This may sound like having a group voice call among your Slack team members, but it will differ as audio rooms won’t need users to schedule a call or initiate one. It will most likely be similar to Clubhouse in which users will be able to host an audio room, and others can join and leave anytime.

As per the reports, Slack is also planning to add temporary video messages which are inspired by Snapchat Stories, and a feature that’s very popular on Instagram. The platform has been developing these features for quite some time, and they were part of Slack’s roadmap, revealed in October last year. Although Mr. Butterfield didn’t give specific dates for the rollout of these features.

It looks like Slack has a lot of new features planned for users. Earlier this week Slack launched a new feature that lets users to chat with any other in the platform. The feature called ‘Connect DMs’ lets users to send an invitation to others through their work email address and start a Slack chat.
