Tech giant Huawei to expand education cloud with UAE’s Ankabut

UAE’s Advanced National Research and Education Network, Ankabut has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Chinese multinational technology company, Huawei to expand one of the leading education clouds in the UAE and the Middle East.

This collaboration reconfirms Huawei as the long-term cloud solution provider and strategic technology partner of Ankabut. Earlier last year, Ankabut has chosen Huawei as a partner to develop the new education cloud platform & software-defined data center.

With phase one of the cloud established, the two organizations will now work together to extend the current footprint using Huawei Cloud Stack Solution & software-defined data center. And also it strengthens the role of the UAE as a leader in educational services and accelerates the digital transformation. The expanded software-defined data center will enable Ankabut to provide educators in the UAE and across the region with innovative services.

Ankabut, an initiative of Khalifa University and funded by the ICT Fund, is the Advanced National Research and Education Network (NREN) of the UAE that provides academic institutions with access to other education networks around the world. It intends to create an opportunity for the UAE to be a global leader in research and education. Also, it supports initiatives in the e-learning environment, library content, distribution systems, and research collaboration.
