The United Arab Emirates has been selected to host the 2029 Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Abu Dhabi.

The decision followed an international voting and evaluation process in which the UAE secured the highest number of votes, reflecting broad global confidence in the nation’s economic strength, institutional preparedness, and proven capacity to host high-level international events.

The annual meetings are among the world’s most significant financial gatherings, bringing together finance ministers, central bank governors, policymakers, and economic experts from more than 190 countries to discuss global growth, financial stability, and development priorities.

HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, described the selection as a strong international vote of confidence in the UAE’s financial standing and economic capabilities.

Proud of the United Arab Emirates, proud of its economic and financial talent, proud of its growing global standing, and proud of the trust it continues to earn from the world, day after day.”

The hosting of the 2029 meetings is expected to reinforce Abu Dhabi’s position as a leading global financial center while enhancing the UAE’s broader role in shaping international economic policy.

The selection also reflects confidence in the UAE’s balanced fiscal and monetary framework, advanced infrastructure, and long-standing commitment to multilateral cooperation.

His Excellency Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Finance, noted that, “This global event will provide a significant platform to promote constructive financial and economic dialogue among countries worldwide. We are committed to providing an ideal environment that leads to tangible outcomes supporting sustainable development and strengthening global financial and economic integration.”

The UAE previously hosted the World Bank-IMF Annual Meetings in Dubai in 2003, and the return of the event in 2029 highlights the nation’s continued rise as a premier venue for major international financial forums.
