The University of Bahrain (UOB) and the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) have signed a memorandum of cooperation at the chamber’s headquarters.
The memorandum was signed by Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University of Bahrain, and Nabeel Khalid Kanoo, Chairman of BCCI.
The Education Minister emphasised the university’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), as one of the Kingdom’s key economic institutions. He highlighted the importance of aligning applied research with the needs of the economy and labour market, and providing advanced practical training opportunities for students within private sector institutions to support their transition into employment after graduation.
The BCCI Chairman expressed appreciation to the minister for supporting the development of cooperation through the agreement. Kanoo described it as a significant step in strengthening relations between the two sides, noting that it will contribute to achieving shared objectives in support of Bahraini students, the national economy and the private sector.
The UoB-BCCI memorandum aims to enhance cooperation in policy development and the exchange of studies, statistics, publications and proposals that support current and future economic plans. It also seeks to strengthen legislative and legal frameworks related to the economy and commerce, and to link academic research and projects with labour market needs.
Areas of cooperation between UoB and BCCI include preparing and publishing studies and research, organizing conferences, forums and economic events serving the Bahraini community, and providing access to knowledge resources and scientific references in both print and digital formats. The agreement also supports integrating human capital into the labor market and creating practical training opportunities through agreed mechanisms.
The signing was preceded by a meeting between the Minister of Education, the BCCI Chairman and board members, during which views and ideas were exchanged and discussions were held on the future of education and the role of the private sector and its institutions in the Kingdom.
