The Integrated Transport Centre (Abu Dhabi Mobility), an affiliate of the Department of Municipalities and Transport and supervised by the Smart and Autonomous Systems Council, has announced the expansion of its autonomous taxi services on Yas Island.

The expansion is being delivered in collaboration with Apollo Go, a subsidiary of China’s Baidu, with Autogo (a subsidiary of K2) serving as the local operator and joining the ecosystem as an additional operator.

This move follows successful testing and operational trials of Level 4 autonomous taxis on Yas Island and marks a key milestone in Abu Dhabi’s phased rollout of autonomous mobility services.

The service will later expand to include Al Reem Island, Al Maryah Island, and Al Saadiyat Island. Commuters can request rides via the ‘AutoGo’ smart application, available on Android and Apple app stores.

The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) emphasized that the expansion reinforces its role in enabling smart mobility solutions across Abu Dhabi, providing the regulatory and operational frameworks necessary to ensure safety, efficiency, and integration with the Emirate’s broader vision for a smart, sustainable transport ecosystem.

His Excellency Hamad Adel Al Afeefi, Executive Director of the Intelligent Transportation Systems Sector at ITC, stated that, “Welcoming a new operator to the commercial operation of autonomous taxis represents a pivotal step in ITC’s efforts to regulate and develop Abu Dhabi’s smart and sustainable mobility ecosystem. This addition reinforces the Emirate’s position as a leading hub for advanced technologies and reflects the readiness of our regulatory and operational frameworks for the safe, efficient commercial operation of Level 4 autonomous vehicles.”

Waleed Alblooshi, Vice President of Strategy at K2, added that, “Commencing operations at the start of the year reflects our focus on implementation and delivering sustainable, long-term impact. Offering free rides allows the public to experience autonomous mobility as a practical option for everyday life and sets the foundation for the next phase of expansion and organized commercial operations.”

The expansion underscores ITC’s commitment to building a future-ready transport ecosystem focused on innovation, sustainability, and integration.
