H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of the Presidential Court, and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA), has launched ADAFSA’s strategic plan for 2022-2025.

The launch of the strategic plan was attended by Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Chairman of the Department of Community Development-Abu Dhabi, and Mr. Saeed Al Bahri Al Ameri, Director-General of ADAFSA.

Sheikh Mansour said that “the new strategy aims to motivate the agriculture and food production sectors and increase its contribution to the emirate’s GDP. It is aligned with the vision of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the Abu Dhabi Government’s objectives to establish a knowledge-based economy and achieve sustainable agricultural development.”

The ADAFSA Chairman also lauded the efforts of the Authority’s employees who have accomplished numerous achievements in terms of ensuring the sector’s sustainability.

Mr. Al Ameri stated that the authority’s new strategy underscores the keenness of the UAE’s leadership to support the sector and ensures the success of the Abu Dhabi Government’s efforts to diversify the economy.

“ADAFSA is monitored by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed and aims to achieve self-sufficiency, which reached 84 percent in nine select food products in 2021. The new strategy represents a future roadmap for establishing sustainable food systems, addresses the sector’s challenges, increases agricultural sustainability rates to 66 percent, and reduces the use of groundwater in agriculture by 500 million cubic meters between 2022 and 2025,” Mr. Al Ameri added.

The new strategy also intends to promote efficient partnerships with entities operating in the agriculture and food production sectors. To achieve these objectives, the strategy has established several initiatives to ensure dependence on technology as well as artificial intelligence and build the capacities of the sector, as per the statement.
