ADPIC shines at ‘2024 FIDIC Contract Users Awards’

The Abu Dhabi Projects and Infrastructure Centre (ADPIC) was honored at the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC) Contract Users Awards 2024 for successfully implementing FIDIC contracting standards.

The prestigious award acknowledges ADPIC as the best project owner of the year for its exceptional use of FIDIC contracts, adherence to best practice, as well as interaction with the supply chain in a fair and principled manner.

It honored ADPIC’s updated General Conditions Contract (ADGCC) for capital projects, which introduced key advancements in procurement standards, dispute resolution, and project delivery efficiency.

“We are honored to receive this recognition, which reflects ADPIC’s dedication to advancing the infrastructure and construction sector in Abu Dhabi. It’s a testament to our efforts to set new benchmarks for procurement standards and dispute resolution, while ensuring fairness, efficiency, and innovation in capital project delivery.”

The revised ADGCC, now mandated for government entities in Abu Dhabi, emphasizes the Centre’s commitment to promoting innovation and collaboration in infrastructure delivery across the emirate. It includes an elevated role for engineers and requires the integration of Dispute Avoidance and Adjudication Boards, ensuring objective dispute resolution and fairness.

His Excellency Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa, Chairman of the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT), added that, “This recognition highlights ADPIC’s leadership in setting new benchmarks for the construction industry. Through a commitment to innovation and integrity, ADPIC is driving progress in Abu Dhabi and setting an inspiring example for the entire region to follow.”
