Arabian Gulf University (AGU) in Bahrain has signed contracts to provide the information technology system and supply non-medical furniture for the academic hospital at King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Medical City.
The contracts are part of a $266.7 million (SAR1 billion grant) provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) to establish the medical city.
The project will equip the academic hospital with an integrated information technology system and non-medical furniture to support the medical city’s operations and improve operational efficiency.
The infrastructure facilitates the integrated functioning of the medical city and supports its long-term development objectives.
The initiative is part of the King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Medical City project and aims to support healthcare services by providing infrastructure for medical education, research, and clinical operations.
The Saudi Fund for Development stated that the project reflects its continued support for the health and education sectors through development initiatives that enhance institutional capacity and infrastructure.
The cooperation between SFD and Arabian Gulf University covers multiple phases of the medical city project to support education, scientific research, and innovation.
The partnership is also expected to contribute to improving the quality of university education and reinforce Arabian Gulf University as a leading academic and research institution serving the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Medical City is being developed with Saudi funding to support healthcare, medical education, and research in Bahrain.
