American eCommerce giant Amazon is planning to create 1,500 direct and indirect employment in the UAE this year, in order to support its regional expansion plans and the Emirates’ transition to a digital economy.
According to the statement, the expansion will enable the company to provide a smarter, faster, and more consistent service to consumers and communities. Amazon is generating jobs by increasing the storage capacity of its fulfillment centers by 60 percent, allowing customers to choose from a greater range of products.
The company said, “By the end of 2021, its storage space in the UAE will be spread over more than 3.7 million cubic feet, which is equivalent to approximately 40 Olympic-sized swimming pools, allowing Amazon to store millions of products for businesses.”
Further, the expansion creates additional jobs via its sellers and delivery partners. The company is adding four new delivery stations, which will increase its overall area by 70 percent, allowing it to handle deliveries more quickly and expand its reach.
