The National Health Survey Committee, which includes representatives from the Bahrain Health Ministry and the Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA), has organized a specialized training workshop titled ‘Data Analysis Methods’ in partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO).
The workshop is part of ongoing efforts to enhance national capabilities in health data interpretation and statistical analysis. It brought together health professionals, data specialists, and statisticians to strengthen evidence-based decision-making across Bahrain’s healthcare system.
National Health Survey key tool in monitoring health status
Dr. Samya Bahram, Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health at Bahrain Health Ministry, emphasised that the National Health Survey is a fundamental tool for monitoring the health status in the Kingdom. It provides an accurate database that supports the development of health services and policies. She expressed her gratitude to the WHO for its valuable technical support during the workshop.
Duaa Sultan Mohammed, Deputy Chief Executive of Statistics and Population Registry at the iGA, highlighted the importance of such workshops in developing national staff capabilities and enhancing the efficiency of implementing and analysing health survey results.
According to the statement, the workshop was led by Dr. Iman Abdulkareem, an expert from the WHO, focusing on strengthening the national teams’ capacity to analyse data from the 2024 National Health Survey.
The training was based on the latest globally recognised methodologies and approaches, reviewed survey implementation procedures to align with WHO standards, and included a presentation of preliminary statistical results. It also covered discussions on upcoming analysis steps and future phases of the project.
The third National Health Survey, launched in October 2024, targets over 4,000 households across the Kingdom’s governorates as part of ongoing efforts to build a comprehensive health database supporting Bahrain’s healthcare development plans and initiatives.
