World’s largest aluminum smelter outside China, Aluminum Bahrain (Alba) has been esteemed with British Safety Council’s International Safety Award with Merit – 2020 for its commitment to good ‘Health and Safety Management’ during 2019.

Alba is one of the 250 global organizations that were awarded a Merit in the 2020 International Safety Awards, it said in a statement.

Ali Al Baqali, CEO – Alba

“Alba Safety culture is a reflection of the individual and collective efforts of our employees as well as contractors. We are pleased that British Safety Council has recognised our 2019 Safety achievements with the International Safety Award with Merit – 2020. We aim to continue with this momentum, despite the challenging situation of Covid-19, and get closer to our dream of becoming the world’s safest and largest smelter.”

The International Safety Award recognizes organizations from around the world, which have shown their dedication to restricting workplace injuries and work-related ill-health during the previous calendar year.

Alba has achieved over 21.25 million working-hours without LTI as of to-date.
