Oman Airports has announced the launch of Air Tanzania’s direct flights between Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam and Muscat International Airport, expanding air connectivity between Oman and Tanzania.
The airline will operate three direct flights per week, providing a direct link between the two countries and supporting travel for business, tourism, and trade.
Engineer Peter Rudolph Olanga, Chief Executive Officer of Air Tanzania, said that the new route marks an important addition to the airline’s network and reflects the growing cooperation between Oman and Tanzania.
The direct service facilitates travel between the two countries and improves access for visitors traveling from Oman to Tanzania, including destinations such as Zanzibar and mainland Tanzania, which have historical and cultural links with Oman.
Olanga added that the route has received encouraging demand from passengers traveling from Muscat to Tanzania and onward to other destinations in the country and neighboring East African markets.
Saud bin Abdulaziz Al-Azizi, Head of Institutional Support at Oman Airports, remarked that Air Tanzania will operate three weekly direct flights between Muscat and Dar es Salaam. The new route is part of Oman Airports’ efforts to expand the number of airlines and international destinations served by airports in the Sultanate.
Al-Azizi noted that the service will contribute to strengthening economic and social links between Oman and Tanzania while improving air connectivity between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region and East Africa.
According to Oman Airports, the direct air service is expected to support tourism, trade, investment, and business relations between Oman and Tanzania.
The route also strengthens Muscat International Airport’s connectivity with East Africa by providing direct access between the two markets.
