Drydock World starts conversion works on Floating Storage & Offloading project

Drydocks World Dubai, a subsidiary of DP World, has begun work converting an Aframax tanker capable of carrying 700,000 barrels of oil into a Floating Storage and Offloading Unit (FSO) for Paris-based Perenco subsidiary Dixstone.

The extensive upgradation and life extension work at the FSO Pargo project will include the provision of a new hull coating, designed to make the FSO’s performance reliable for uninterrupted service for the next 20 years for offshore operation. 

Other work includes fabrication and installation of an external turret for weather waning, helideck fabrication and integration, metering skid installation and modification to cargo system, installation of Hose Reel & Crane.

According to World Energy Report, Perenco plans to position an FSO at the Pargo shallow-water field complex to receive, store, and export production from existing production platforms, and this FSO is the one to be shipped to Brazil, once converted.
