H.E Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director General of Dubai Customs announced that airport customs has shifted its customs services and procedures to a more secured and digital form amidst COVID-19 by re-launching the iDeclare app.

“Digital transformation is at the core of Dubai Customs’ strategies and plans to ensure streamlined passenger traffic and trade. For this, the smart iDeclare Application is gaining more importance these days supporting Dubai International Airport in its mission as one of the best airports in the world dealing with the pandemic,” Mr. Musabih said.

For the seventh consecutive year, Dubai International Airport topped global airports in 2020 as the world’s busiest airport despite lockdowns and restrictions posed by the pandemic.

The app will be a turning point in the passengers’ experience, especially as EXPO2020 approaches, since it will allow passengers to declare their personal goods while traveling through Dubai Airports. It can be downloaded from Google Play and Apple Store.

The smart iDeclare App has been re-launched with AI features that will allow the app to identify goods to be declared by simply photographing them and will provide the Harmonized System (HS) Code, a six-digit standard for classifying globally traded products, and duties specified for them instantly. It also includes a scanner that can read and store flight data without the need to fill it out, and it will have access to all of Dubai International Airport’s services.

The app is designed to simplify the customs clearance process for passengers by allowing them to self-declare their must-declare commercial products, personal effects, or cash before or after arriving at the airport, cutting the time required for these processes to less than 4 minutes.
