Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has secured an intellectual property (IP) certificate for its first industrial design: the solar-powered electric abra, highlighting its commitment to driving innovation and sustainable growth in transport sector.
The IP certificate was awarded to RTA’s Marine Transport Department at the Public Transport Agency by the UAE Ministry of Economy, the official authority in the UAE responsible for issuing IP certificates across various fields.
This certificate serves several strategic objectives such as protecting RTA’s exclusive rights, strengthening its uniqueness, enabling licensing and franchising rights, and safeguarding RTA’s valuable assets.
This milestone adds to RTA’s expanding track record of achievements in the field of sustainability, particularly with solar energy, one of the key renewable energy sources that supports environmental protection and public health.
It also reinforces RTA’s commitment to emerging as a global leader in sustainability while advancing its vision of seamless and sustainable mobility.
RTA remains dedicated to driving creativity and innovation by fostering a thriving work environment that empowers employees across various agencies to continue developing the best ideas and proposals. These efforts seek to strengthen RTA’s journey of excellence, creativity, and innovation in offering cutting-edge services to all segments of society, in line with its distinguished position locally, regionally, and globally.
Furthermore, the launch of electric abra falls in line with the RTA’s efforts to achieve Dubai’s Strategy for Self-Driving Transport, which aims to convert 25 percent of the total mobility journeys in Dubai into self-driving journeys by 2030.
