Reports suggest that one of Facebook’s largest ad spenders Disney has drastically reduced their ads on the social media platform.

US-based Wall Street Journal reported that Disney which was facebook’s biggest ad revenue source for the first six months of the year has paused several of its ad campaigns on the portal citing its inability to effectively take actions against hate speech and controversial content.

The entertainment giant joins other organizations like Starbucks Corp, Unilever Plc, Adidas AG and others that have pulled advertising from the tech giant.

Disney has suspended advertising of its streaming video service Disney+ on Facebook as the company is concerned about Facebook’s enforcement of its policies surrounding objectionable content while ad spending on Facebook-owned Instagram for its another streaming service called Hulu is also down.

Earlier #StopHateforProfit boycott organized by a faction of civil rights organizations including the Anti-Defamation League, the NAACP, Color of Change, and Sleeping Giants began on July 1st requested leading global organizations to dissociate with Facebook arguing that it hasn’t made enough progress enforcing its policies on hate speech and misinformation.

Later the organizers of the campaign said they saw “no commitment to action” after meeting with Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg.

Other companies not part of the formal boycott that has pulled ads from Facebook and other social platforms included Coca-Cola, Lego, Starbucks, and Unilever. And Microsoft suspended its advertising on Facebook and Instagram through August.
