The largest aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) service provider in the Middle East, Etihad Engineering, a subsidiary of Etihad Aviation Group, has agreed to manufacture 1.3 million facemasks at their newly launched in-house face mask production facility.

The newly launched production facility operates on completely automated modern technology that manufactures up to 20,000 per day. The three-layered masks are produced by ensuring a high level of protection and offers up to 98 percent filtration.

The manufacturers, the Etihad group, have made sure of the safety of masks before commencing mass production. The prototypes of the face masks were undergone through various stringent tests where microbial cleanliness and bacterial filtration efficiency levels were inspected thoroughly.

After the successful completion of the testing phase, the face masks were medically certified by two authorities, Laboratorio Analisi Tecnal in Italy and China National Textile and Apparel Council (CNTAC).

Commenting on this initiative, the Vice President of Airframe Services at Etihad Engineering Mr. Haytham Nasir stated that, “with the safety, health and wellbeing of our customers and employees our paramount concern and top priority, we saw an opportunity to be self-sufficient. To provide the highest level of protection, this new facility not only meets our internal demands but we can also mass produce for third-party customers, partners, and suppliers.”

A heat stamp feature is available in the facility to print logos on the face mask to make it customizable for any organization and further, it can be produced in different colors also.

Within the next three months, the face masks will be made available to the entire staff across the Etihad Aviation Group from cabin and ground crew, to catering, cargo, engineering employees and medical professionals.
