The Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has launched an Udhiyah awareness initiative in Madinah ahead of Eid Al-Adha, while regional authorities have completed upgrades to several major tourist and recreational destinations to accommodate residents and visitors during the holiday period.
Udhiyah awareness campaign
The Udhiyah awareness campaign, led by ministry specialists and veterinarians, includes field visits to livestock markets and an educational exhibition at a rural tourism farm aimed at helping the public select healthy, disease-free sacrificial animals that comply with Islamic requirements.
The Udhiyah initiative also focuses on public health and food safety by providing guidance on proper meat preservation and encouraging consumers to use licensed slaughterhouses operating under veterinary supervision. Authorities are additionally promoting animal welfare standards to safeguard livestock during transport and display.
The Udhiyah campaign comes as Madinah markets witness a large and diverse supply of sheep and camels ahead of increased demand during Eid Al-Adha.
Upgrading tourism
At the same time, Madinah Region Development Authority and Madinah Municipality have upgraded several prominent destinations across the city as part of efforts to improve visitor experiences and support domestic tourism.
The projects combine modern urban development with Madinah’s historic Islamic character and are intended to enhance the quality of public spaces during the Eid holiday season.

Among the key sites is Maqsad Quba, located adjacent to Quba Mosque, featuring heritage-inspired walkways and cafes. Authorities have also highlighted the modern city center project near the plazas of Qiblatain Mosque.
In the northern central district near Prophet’s Mosque, officials have developed an evening destination featuring shops and outdoor seating areas, while the upgraded Sayyid Al-Shuhada Square beside Mount Al-Rumah now offers enhanced visitor services for those exploring landmarks connected to Islamic history.
