The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has announced the addition of five new maritime shipping services during the recent period, following the onset of tensions in the Strait of Hormuz.

The initiative is designed to bolster the resilience of the logistics sector, ensuring uninterrupted supply chains and the steady flow of goods.

These services were introduced in partnership with leading global shipping lines, including MSC, CMA CGM, Maersk, and Hapag-Lloyd, reflecting the efficiency of Saudi ports and their operational readiness to respond to regional developments.

According to the statement, the new services include GULF SHUTTLE, REDEX, JADE, AE19, and SE4. They operate across multiple maritime routes connecting the Kingdom’s ports with a range of regional and international destinations, contributing to the expansion of maritime connectivity and the enhancement of logistics performance.

These services bring the total capacity to around 63,594 TEUs, enhancing the operational capacity of Saudi ports, providing exporters and importers with more flexible shipping options, and ensuring the seamless flow of trade.

This step aims to mitigate the impact of challenges affecting key maritime corridors, particularly the Strait of Hormuz, while also enhancing maritime connectivity through the Red Sea and improving supply chain efficiency.

These services also support the integration of Saudi ports and increase their capacity, further reinforcing the Kingdom’s position as a global logistics hub.

Mawani confirmed that this initiative is part of proactive efforts to enhance the readiness of the maritime sector, ensure supply chain continuity, and strengthen the reliability of Saudi ports as a key hub in global trade.
