MECHF Awards 2022; RAKEZ honored for its COVID Response Team

One of the prominent industrial and business hubs in the UAE, the Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone (RAKEZ) has been honored as runner-up for having the ‘Best COVID Response Team 2021’ at the Middle East Clean, Hygiene & Facility (MECHF) Awards 2022.

The nominees of the fourth edition of the prestigious cleaning and hygiene industry awards were evaluated for their COVID-19 response strategies by a six-member panel comprised of local and international health and safety experts.

“Our team has been able to effectively respond to the challenges, ensuring business continuity while prioritizing safety of all. I am happy such support and dedication in upholding the RAKEZ community solidarity was lauded at the MECHF Awards.”

The RAKEZ Group CEO further added that, “We swung into action at the very onset of the pandemic. We formed a COVID-19 response team which was instrumental in planning and implementing our prevention, identification, isolation, tracing, relocation and disinfection strategies.”

Some of the strategies employed by RAKEZ included the creation of Disinfection Service Procedure and Emergency (Pandemic) Response Policy, the formation of dedicated communications groups to train personnel and zone-wise action response teams to deal with emergencies.

Other measures to help contain the spread of the illness involved installation of touchless eco-friendly and advanced equipment, set-up of dedicated isolation rooms and temporary COVID-19 testing facilities, and more organized waste disposal for PPE kits.

One of the assessment parameters for the award was the maintenance of around 450 RAKEZ facilities during the pandemic. The facilities comprise commercial and business centers, security and administrative buildings, labor and staff accommodations, warehouses and offices located across its free zone and non-free zone areas.
