The Oman-Cebu Investment Forum, held in the Republic of the Philippines, has explored new investment opportunities while enhancing bilateral cooperation between Oman and the Philippines.

Organized by the Omani Foreign Ministry, the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), and relevant Cebu authorities, the Oman-Cebu Investment Forum aimed to foster greater collaboration between the two nations.

In his opening remarks, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Oman’s Foreign Minister, highlighted the critical need to transition existing cordial relations into tangible trade and investment partnerships.

The minister emphasized the importance of creating an environment conducive to economic cooperation, while raising awareness of the diverse opportunities available in sectors such as green and renewable energy, logistics, tourism, real estate development, healthcare, artificial intelligence, data centers, robotics, and information technology.

Sayyid Badr stated that, “The Sultanate of Oman is a preferred destination for many Filipino workers, who have found a second home where they enjoy safety and respect. Around 50,000 Filipinos live in an environment marked by understanding and tolerance. This strong human foundation serves as a starting point for expanding cooperation beyond labor into trade and investment, opening wider horizons for the business communities of both Oman and the Philippines.”

The Oman-Cebu Investment Forum, which marked its inaugural edition, sought to promote deeper cultural, commercial, tourism, and investment ties between the two nations. It provided a platform for cross-sector collaboration and knowledge exchange, aimed at spurring economic partnerships and growth. Through the event, officials hoped to solidify a foundation for sustained cooperation in areas such as technology, manufacturing, and sustainable development.

Dr. Mahad bin Said Ba’awin, Oman’s Minister of Labour, also attended the Oman-Cebu Investment Forum, underscoring the importance of a collaborative approach in addressing mutual economic goals. Representatives from both the public and private sectors of Oman and the Philippines were present, further solidifying the commitment to strengthening ties across various industries.
