Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (OCCI) Chairman, Mr. Faisal al Rawas has discussed new avenues of cooperation with Mr. Davis Kallukaran, Director of Indo Gulf Middle East Chamber of Commerce (INMECC) Oman, and Mr. Chander Khanna, the Oman Chapter Secretary.

Both parties explored the synergy of both chambers working together for the development of trade and services between Oman and India.

The OCCI chairman emphasized the skill set development of the Omani youth by inviting INMECC to facilitate the setting up of universities of higher education in Oman.

Mr. Kallukaran noted that, “As announced by the chairman of INMECC, Sharafudeen, and endorsed by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Government of India, V Muralidharan in last week’s meeting held in Cochin, INMECC is taking forward the project of ‘Sick Industrial Units Revival’. This is also being initiated in Oman.”

“INMECC in association with OCCI can bridge this gap by mentoring and hand-holding the entrepreneurs to bring about synergy which is very much required,” the Director of INMECC Oman added.

Mr. Kallukaran informed the OCCI chairman that INMECC is establishing Chapters across India and abroad. Chapters already operate in Oman, UAE, Saudi, and Kuwait, as well as the Indian states of Maharashtra and Kerala.

The meeting was concluded with a note to speed up the signing of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the chambers and meet again to work out the formalities of pursuing the objectives jointly.
