Chinese smartphone manufacturer OnePlus is expected to launch three phones as part of its OnePlus 9 lineup this year.

The OnePlus 9 Pro, a regular OnePlus 9, and a more affordable option, previously called OnePlus 9e or OnePlus 9 Lite are expected to be launched this year.

Some leaks have claimed that the firm will rename its OnePlus 9e or OnePlus 9 Lite smartphones to OnePlus 9 SE, a direct take on the Apple iPhone SE. However, it appears that the name would be OnePlus 9R, according to the American tipster Mr. Evan Blass.

Mr. Blass shared an image of a source code showing the name of OnePlus 9R, which suggests that this name might be considered by the brand. While Mr. Blass has not provided details of where the code was discovered, it is interesting to see OnePlus choose a brand new moniker for its upcoming phone. Last year, the OnePlus Nord was the mid-range option from the brand, but it seems that the OnePlus 9R might end being the name for 2021.

OnePlus 9R leaks expected specifications

The OnePlus 9 series is scheduled to launch in March, though the company might not release all three variants at the same time. All three phones will of course make their way to India and likely be Amazon exclusive. OnePlus sells its devices through its website in India as well.

According to the report the OnePlus 9R, also known as the OnePlus 9 Lite, will have a wide 6.5-inches display with FHD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. Last year’s OnePlus Nord had a display with a 90 Hz refresh rate as well. The phone is expected to have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 690 processor and not a 700 series processor. This is a 5G-ready chipset as well. The maximum RAM offered will be 8GB along with 128GB storage.

The report further added that the OnePlus 9 Pro will have a 64MP main camera and 8MP ultra-wide camera, coupled with a 5,000mAh battery. The phone is supposed to have a refresh rate of 120 Hz, a 6.7-inch display, a Snapdragon 888 processor. A 48MP main camera, a 64MP ultra-wide camera, and a telephoto lens will also be included in the camera.
