Qatar Media Corporation (QMC) has launched a new economic television channel as part of its strategy to expand specialized media offerings and strengthen its presence in business and financial reporting.

The Qatar Business Channel (QBC) was introduced in Doha on Tuesday in the presence of senior media officials and executives. The channel is the first dedicated economic television platform in Qatar and broadcasts in ultra-high-definition 4K.

It is designed to provide comprehensive coverage of economic developments in Qatar while also addressing regional and international business trends.

Integrated digital distribution

QBC has been integrated into the Tabie streaming platform, enabling live access across digital devices. The integration forms part of a broader approach to expand audience reach and improve content accessibility through digital channels.

According to Qatar Media Corporation, the launch supports its objective of developing specialized media aligned with national priorities.

It also reflects ongoing efforts to diversify content formats and strengthen professional standards in targeted areas such as economic and financial reporting.

The channel currently broadcasts for 15 hours per day, from 09:00 to midnight, including nine hours of live programming. Plans are in place to extend operations to a full 24-hour schedule as content capacity increases.

Programming includes regular economic news bulletins, analytical segments, and live reports covering key sectors. Additional shows will address specific topics such as the film industry, women in business, legal frameworks in Qatar and the Gulf region, and broader economic developments.

Editorial network and content support

QBC is supported by a network of more than 30 correspondents across major regional and international locations.

The channel has also established agreements with four global agencies to provide market data and economic news content, supporting timely and data-driven reporting.

Officials noted that the channel operates as an independent economic platform originating from the region, with a focus on delivering consistent and specialized coverage rather than relying on external international media branding.

The channel includes a strong presence of Qatari professionals across editorial, production, and technical roles. Qatar Media Corporation indicated that further recruitment of national talent is planned, in line with the continued development of the country’s media and economic sectors.

Dr. Sara Al Derham, Acting Director of News and Digital Media at QBC, stated that the launch reflects the growing importance of economic coverage as a structured and evolving field within the media industry.
