Qatar and Finland are strengthening economic and trade cooperation, with both countries seeking closer collaboration in advanced industries, artificial intelligence, medical technology, education, and innovation.
The discussions took place during a meeting in Doha between HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al-Thani, Chairman of Qatar Chamber, and a high-level Finnish delegation led by Axel Hagelstam, Deputy Director General for International Relations and Analysis at Finland’s National Emergency Supply Agency, and Petteri Korvala, Secretary General of the Security Committee.
The meeting was also attended by HE Juha Mustonen, Ambassador of the Republic of Finland to the State of Qatar, and Qatar Chamber Board Member and Head of the Health Committee Ibtihaj Al Ahmadani.
The visit formed part of ongoing efforts by both countries to strengthen economic and commercial ties while encouraging greater engagement between their respective private sectors.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed prospects for expanding cooperation across a broad range of industries that are expected to play an increasingly important role in future economic growth.
Discussions focused on civil industries, advanced manufacturing, private sector partnerships, innovation, waste management, and education, reflecting shared priorities in promoting knowledge-based and sustainable economic development.
Officials also exchanged views on ways to facilitate stronger business-to-business engagement and increase investment flows between Qatar and Finland.
As part of these efforts, the two sides discussed a proposal to organize a Qatari-Finnish Business Forum in Qatar to provide companies from both countries with a platform to explore partnerships, investment opportunities, and commercial collaborations.
HE Sheikh Khalifa emphasized Qatar’s commitment to maintaining an attractive and competitive investment environment that offers promising opportunities for Finnish companies and investors seeking to establish or expand their presence in the country.
The Qatar Chamber Chairman underscored that greater private sector engagement would further strengthen trade and investment ties between Qatar and Finland.
