Qatar and Vietnam have continued to strengthen bilateral economic and trade relations as both countries seek to expand cooperation across investment, supply chains, agriculture, and halal industries.
First Vice Chairman of the Qatar Chamber Mohamed bin Ahmed bin Twar Al Kuwari met with Nguyen Huy Hiep, Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Qatar, at the chamber’s headquarters in Lusail.
The meeting focused on enhancing economic and trade cooperation, increasing collaboration between the Qatari and Vietnamese private sectors and identifying sectors with strong investment and partnership potential.
During the discussions, Twar said that the Qatar Chamber supports cooperation between companies from both countries through partnerships and investment projects that contribute to the economic interests of both sides.
Ambassador Nguyen Huy Hiep reaffirmed Vietnam’s interest in strengthening economic cooperation with Qatar and expanding bilateral trade and investment ties.
Hiep noted that trade volume between Qatar and Vietnam exceeded $860 million in 2024, marking an increase of approximately $100 million compared to the previous year, reflecting continued growth in commercial exchange between the two countries.
Nguyen Huy Hiep also highlighted key sectors of the Vietnamese economy and encouraged Qatari investors to explore opportunities in Vietnam, particularly in agricultural products, food processing industries, and halal goods.
Hiep emphasized the role of the Qatar Chamber in supporting the promotion of Vietnamese agricultural and halal products in the Qatari market and facilitating stronger business connectivity between companies from both countries.
During the meeting, the Vietnamese Ambassador invited the Qatar Chamber and Qatari businessmen to participate in the Vietnam International Sourcing Expo 2026, scheduled to take place next September in Ho Chi Minh City.
The annual exhibition is regarded as one of Vietnam’s major international trade events focused on sourcing, exports, and supply chain connectivity, attracting broad participation from companies, suppliers, importers, and business decision-makers from around the world.
The expo features participants from multiple sectors, including food and beverages, textiles, furniture, consumer goods, agricultural products, and logistics services.
It also includes panel discussions and specialized workshops addressing developments in international trade, manufacturing, and global supply chains.
