The Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) has participated as an anchor investor in the share capital increase of Public Power Corporation S.A. (PPC), the integrated energy group operating across Southeastern Europe and listed on the Athens Stock Exchange.
The offering was multiple times oversubscribed, raising $4.6 billion (€4.25 billion) through primary shares and an additional $270 million (€250 million) through a secondary placement of treasury shares. The shares were priced at $20.2 (€18.63) each.
The share capital increase was supported by cornerstone investments from the Greek state, which subscribed for approximately $1.4 billion (€1.3 billion), and Aeolus Holdings S.a r.l., an entity owned by funds advised by CVC Advisers Greece S.M.S.A. and its affiliates, which subscribed for around $1.3 billion (€1.2 billion).
The new shares, each with a nominal value of $2.7 (€2.48), attracted strong demand from international institutional investors as well as K Group Capital Partners, the private equity fund controlled by the Kyriakou family. QIA is a strategic partner in K Group Capital Partners, which focuses on investment opportunities in Greece.
QIA and K Group Capital Partners discussed the investment opportunity during the recent Europe Gulf Forum.
QIA said its participation reflects the sovereign wealth fund’s strategy of deploying long-term capital into essential infrastructure and businesses positioned to benefit from structural trends, including the global energy transition.
PPC is considered a key platform in Greece’s energy transition, with investments focused on renewable energy, flexible power generation, distribution network modernization, and data center development.
The company is also playing a broader role in strengthening energy security and infrastructure modernization across Southeastern Europe.
The investment further strengthens QIA’s long-term commitment to Greece and expands its collaboration with K Group Capital Partners as both sides continue to explore strategic investment opportunities in the region.
