Saudi Arabia and India have stepped up high-level engagements to advance energy cooperation, regional security coordination, and strategic ties, following talks in Riyadh between senior officials from both countries.
Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman held discussions on Sunday with India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, focusing on enhancing bilateral cooperation in the energy sector. Both sides reviewed efforts to strengthen energy security and ensure the stability of global energy supplies, amid growing concerns over market volatility.
Separately, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan met with Doval at the ministry’s headquarters in Riyadh, where they discussed a broad range of regional and strategic issues of mutual interest.
The talks also covered recent developments across West Asia and avenues to expand joint cooperation. The meeting was attended by Undersecretary for Political Affairs Dr. Saud Al-Sati.
Doval was earlier received at King Khalid International Airport by India’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Suhel Ajaz Khan and Saudi Deputy Minister for Political Affairs Dr. Saud Al-Sati. During his visit, he also held talks with Saudi National Security Adviser Dr. Musaed bin Mohammed Al Aiban.
According to Saudi officials, discussions with Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman focused on maintaining stable oil flows and supporting global supply stability. The talks come amid continued uncertainty in energy markets following the 2026 Iran conflict, which has raised concerns about possible disruptions to shipments through the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global oil and gas transport.

India, one of the world’s largest crude importers, is a major buyer of Saudi energy supplies, underscoring the importance of continued cooperation between the two countries.
Security collaboration also featured prominently during the visit, with both sides reviewing counterterrorism efforts, intelligence sharing mechanisms, and broader regional de-escalation initiatives. Officials exchanged views on the situation in Gaza and ongoing diplomatic efforts to stabilize the region, reflecting deepening strategic alignment between Saudi Arabia and India.
