Saudi Arabia and Pakistan discuss ways to boost security cooperation

Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Interior, Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, and Pakistan’s Federal Minister of Interior and Narcotics Control Mohsin Raza Naqvi have discussed ways to enhance bilateral security cooperation at the ministry’s headquarters in Riyadh.

The ministers reviewed the longstanding relations between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan and explored ways to strengthen security cooperation further and enhance coordination between their respective interior ministries.

They also discussed avenues to expand collaboration on regional security, law enforcement, and counterterrorism efforts, while exchanging views on several issues of mutual interest to reinforce the strategic partnership between the two countries.

According to the statement, the two ministers signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen scientific, training, and research cooperation between the interior ministries of Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.

The agreement is designed to foster the exchange of expertise, promote joint research initiatives, and support capacity-building programs, further enhancing institutional collaboration in areas of shared interest and contributing to stronger bilateral security cooperation.

Saudi Arabia and Pakistan share a longstanding strategic relationship rooted in strong political, economic, security, and cultural ties. The two countries maintain close cooperation in defence, counterterrorism, intelligence sharing, and regional security, supported by regular high-level exchanges and institutional partnerships.

As per the reports, Saudi Arabia is one of Pakistan’s key economic partners, providing financial assistance, investment, and energy supplies, while millions of Pakistani expatriates living in the Kingdom contribute significantly to Pakistan’s economy through remittances.

The meeting and signing ceremony were attended by Acting Vice Minister of Interior Prince Dr. Abdulaziz bin Mohammed bin Ayyaf, Director of Public Security Lt. Gen. Mohammed Al-Bassami, Pakistani Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Ahmad Farooq, and several senior officials.
