Saudi Arabia has delivered $150 million in urgent assistance to Yemen, supplying petroleum derivatives to meet the diesel and fuel oil needs of power plants across the country’s governorates, aiming to help stabilize electricity generation and support essential services.

This initiative comes as an extension of Saudi Arabia’s support for the Yemeni people in line with the directives of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, and the follow-up of Minister of Defense Prince Khalid bin Salman.

The support, delivered through the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen, is aimed at strengthening the stability of the electricity grid, ensuring the continuity of essential services, and easing the hardships faced by the Yemeni people. It also seeks to enhance vital public services while supporting broader economic and development activities across the country.

Saudi Arabia–Yemen energy relations are primarily shaped by humanitarian support, infrastructure assistance, and efforts to stabilize Yemen’s electricity sector amid ongoing challenges.

Saudi Arabia–Yemen energy relations reflect a sustained commitment to maintaining critical infrastructure and supporting stability in Yemen’s energy sector during periods of disruption, as per the reports.

For his part, Mohammed Al-Jaber, Saudi Ambassador to Yemen and General Supervisor of the Program, said that this support is a continuation of the Kingdom’s unwavering commitment to supporting the Yemeni people and alleviating their humanitarian suffering, particularly in light of the rising temperatures.

In a post on his account on the X social media platform, Al-Jaber said that this support contributes to the stability of electricity services and supports related commercial and service activities, and enhances the foundations of development and stability in Yemen.
