The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information (GEOSA), participated as a Diamond Sponsor at the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG) Congress 2026, held in Cape Town, South Africa.
The participation at FIG 2026 underscores GEOSA’s efforts to strengthen international coordination and cooperation while representing the Kingdom at regional and global levels in surveying, geospatial information, and related imaging fields.
GEOSA’s participation in FIG 2026 featured a strong scientific presence, highlighting Saudi Arabia’s advancements in the geospatial sector regionally and internationally. Engineers Naif Al-Juhani, Saad Al-Qarni, Ghazi Al-Qahtani, and Saad Al-Qahtani delivered a series of scientific papers and specialized presentations.
The presentations showcased the Kingdom’s experience in fostering geospatial innovation, developing smart geospatial solutions, and adopting emerging geospatial technologies and modern applications. They also highlighted the role of these technologies in supporting development projects, enabling various sectors, and enhancing data-driven decision-making.
GEOSA also participated through a dedicated pavilion at the accompanying exhibition, which attracted officials, experts, specialists, and stakeholders from the geospatial industry.
At the pavilion, the authority showcased Saudi Arabia’s experience in developing national geospatial infrastructure, advancing geospatial enablers and innovative solutions that support sustainable development, and providing a range of geospatial initiatives, services, products, and enabling technologies.
The FIG 2026 brought together more than 1,500 specialists and experts from 120 countries. Over four days, the event featured keynote panel discussions, specialized presentations, workshops, and more than 70 scientific sessions focused on the latest technologies and practices in surveying, geomatics, and geospatial data.
The FIG 2026 event also witnessed the signing of several international strategic partnerships and memoranda of understanding among participating organizations and entities.
