The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) has highlighted the Kingdom’s advancements in AI during its participation at the 22nd session of the United Nations High-Level Committee on South-South Cooperation.
SDAIA reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to supporting the United Nations’ 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which aims to foster equality, address climate change and drive economic growth with a focus on sustainability. The 2030 Agenda includes 17 interconnected goals and stresses the importance of international cooperation.
Saudi delegation at the United Nations was headed by the Ministry of Economy and Planning (MEP), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), and the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD).
During its participation, SDAIA highlighted how its advanced expertise in the development of digital solutions based on AI and big data can play a key role in improving decision-making efficiency and supporting international efforts to drive sustainable development, particularly in developing countries.
SDAIA’s participation also aligns with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s commitment to fostering ties with leading organizations around the world and exchanging successful experiences in the field of data and AI.
Furthermore, this falls in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 and reinforces Saudi Arabia’s presence in international forums as an active partner in shaping the future of AI.
SDAIA took part in the session titled ‘Leveraging AI for Sustainable Development through South-South and Triangular Industrial Cooperation’ held at the United Nations Headquarters, New York. The thematic panel session featured Dr. Fahad Al-Balawi, Chief AI Strategy Advisor of the Saudi Data & AI Authority, as a panelist.
