Sheikha Fatima praised by the UN for women empowerment efforts

She was appreciated by Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, the UN Under-Secretary on the graduation of the second batch of Women, Peace and Security Training program

The UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of UN Women, Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka praised the enduring support from the UAE for the UN and its pledge to promote women’s empowerment and gender equality.

She also lauded the exceptional efforts for women empowerment taken by H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, GWU, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, FDF. She also hailed H.H. Sheikha Fatima’s support in maintaining peace and security dossiers.

Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka recognized Sheikha Fatima’s efforts to ensure the graduation of the second batch of Women, Peace and Security Training program even in these difficult circumstances. 223 participants hailing from Asian, Arab and African countries graduated this year and the achievement received much recognition for the UN and other international bodies too.

She also praised the crucial and motivating role of the UAE in promoting pandemic response initiatives at the national and international levels, highlighting the country’s contributions and continued support for humanitarian relief efforts around the world.

Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka highlighted the importance to design long term action plans to reduce the impact of the pandemic crisis on women and girls worldwide.
