The UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri has affirmed that the food supplies remain stable nationwide, with fruit and vegetable markets seeing abundant supply and declining prices.

During a visit to the Fruit and Vegetable Market in Al Aweer, Dubai, the minister attributed the drop in prices to the continuous arrival of fresh shipments of agricultural produce from international suppliers.

The minister said that the steady inflow of fruits, vegetables, and other crops has significantly boosted supply in local markets, contributing to lower prices for several commodities.

Bin Touq also expressed optimism that prices may continue to ease over the coming days as additional shipments reach wholesale markets across the country.

The visit to the Al Aweer market was aimed at reviewing overall market activity, monitoring price trends, and ensuring adequate availability of food products to meet the country’s demand.

During the tour, the minister inspected ongoing operations and assessed the market’s readiness and capacity to handle large volumes of imported produce. He also reviewed the unloading of newly arrived food shipments and observed trading activities within the market.

Officials accompanying the minister evaluated supply levels and logistical operations to ensure the smooth distribution of products across the UAE’s retail markets.

Increased shipments to strengthen supply

Traders at the market confirmed that several new consignments of fruits and vegetables had arrived and that unloading operations were continuing throughout the day. Additional shipments are also expected to arrive in the coming days.

They noted that the increase in incoming supplies is expected to further strengthen market availability and support the continued decline in prices, benefiting consumers across the country.

In his remarks, Bin Touq urged consumers to remain calm and adopt responsible purchasing habits, stressing the importance of buying only what is necessary and avoiding excessive stockpiling.

He reassured the public that food products remain widely available in markets and that there is no shortage of supplies.

The minister further emphasized that the Ministry continues to monitor market developments closely, listen to feedback from consumers and traders, and take necessary measures to ensure the stability of food supplies and price levels across the UAE.
