UAE’s FTA inks MoU with Abu Dhabi Port’s SAFEEN for emergency support

UAE has picked SAFEEN, the subsidiary of Abu Dhabi ports that provide marine services, to support the activities of its Federal Transport Authority.

The MoU was signed in a virtual ceremony and signifies FTA’s efforts to collaborate with various national authorities and companies. The aim is to improve safety, security and environmental protection through these collaborations.

According to the MoU, SAFEEN will support FTA in all marine emergencies, including oil spills, firefighting, wreck removal, salvage, grounding, rescue towing, maritime surveying, search and rescue, as well as a host of other ancillary services. The two entities will also share information and resources.

“Our MoU with Abu Dhabi Ports is a major step in upgrading the standards of health and safety in the UAE’s maritime sector, and reaffirms our commitment to forge a future that places our nation as a world leader in creating a sustainable maritime society”.
