Dubai has hosted the “World Bank Group Cloud Computing” Workshop, organized ahead of the Global Government Cloud Forum by the Dubai Electronic Security Center (DESC) in collaboration with the World Bank Group.
The workshop, the first event of its kind worldwide, gathered members of the World Bank’s Cloud Computing Group, including representatives from digital governments, cloud service providers, participating nations, and industry experts from both the public and private sectors. Discussions revolved around four key pillars: Green Cloud, Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Computing, and Data Protection.
Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Global Government Cloud Forum is set to kickoff tomorrow with the theme titled “Driving Government Innovation and Advancing Cloud Solutions Together”.
The event will feature leading decision-makers and global experts in cloud computing, along with more than 500 industry experts, over 200 government officials, more than 50 International speakers, and 30 Head of Government Clouds.

The closed workshop was carried out with the objective of formulating a global strategy for cloud computing applications over the next five years. It focused on enhancing strategic discussions, knowledge exchange, and collaboration among World Bank Cloud Computing Group members in the public sector. The discussions highlighted fostering cloud adoption and fueling innovation among members and stakeholders.
In addition, the workshop incorporated design thinking and scenario planning concepts to address challenges using modern approaches. Participants engaged in interactive workshops featuring activities such as identifying key drivers and challenges for each pillar and prioritizing future solutions to these challenges.
The participants worked on cultivating pioneering solutions, which were subsequently presented for constructive feedback. The meeting wrapped up with discussions on key outcomes and final recommendations.
After the workshop, attendees visited the “Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park” the largest single-site solar park in the world, aimed at exploring sustainable and innovative technologies supporting Dubai’s green cloud computing infrastructure.
This event provided an opportunity to examine the sustainable technologies implemented by Dubai’s government. Furthermore, it served as a thriving platform to enhance partnerships and collaboration in technological innovation and sustainable cloud solutions, further advancing the forum’s objectives.
