Abu Dhabi will host the World Future Energy Summit (WFES) 2026 from 13–15 January at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi, bringing together global leaders in clean energy, sustainability and climate action as part of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week.
The 18th edition of the annual World Future Energy Summit, hosted by Masdar, is expected to welcome record-breaking participation from policymakers, industry executives, investors, innovators and international organizations, reinforcing its role as a global platform where policy, technology and real-world impact converge.
As part of the World Future Energy Summit 2026, IMI Media Group will host daily screenings of Ocean with David Attenborough at the newly launched Greenpeace Cinema on the exhibition floor. The award-winning 95-minute documentary explores humanity’s relationship with the ocean and highlights both the threats facing marine ecosystems and opportunities for recovery. The film won Best Science/Nature Documentary and Best Cinematography at the 2025 Critics Choice Documentary Awards.
Produced by Silverback Films, part of All3Media and a RedBird IMI company within IMI Ventures, the documentary will be screened once daily across the three-day summit. On the opening day, delegates will also have access to a live post-screening Q&A with Keith Scholey, Director at Silverback Films and a leading figure in global nature documentary production.
Scholey, whose work includes Our Planet, A Perfect Planet and David Attenborough: A Life on Our Planet, said he was pleased to present the film in a country committed to marine protection, adding that the documentary aims to inspire action through storytelling grounded in science.
The screenings form part of World Future Energy Summit’s expanded focus on public engagement alongside policy debate and investment. According to summit organizers, the Greenpeace Cinema reflects the event’s evolution into a multidimensional platform linking sustainability storytelling with innovation and decision-making.
Sophia Sheikh, Content and Marketing Director of World Future Energy Summit, said that the collaboration demonstrates how visual media can deepen engagement with sustainability challenges and complement discussions on policy, technology and finance.
IMI Chief Operating Officer Ali Yousif Al Hammadi emphasized that the initiative aligns with the group’s commitment to purpose-driven storytelling that advances global sustainability conversations during moments of international climate focus.
Beyond the film screenings, World Future Energy Summit 2026 will convene nearly 400 expert speakers across seven sector-specific conference tracks, alongside co-located events hosted by organizations including IRENA and the EU Hydrogen Council. New features include FUSE AI, a dedicated zone and two-day conference focused on artificial intelligence in energy, smart cities and climate resilience, and an expanded startup platform, The Greenhouse, showcasing more than 50 clean-tech startups.
Attendance at the Greenpeace Cinema and documentary screenings is open to registered summit delegates. Registration for World Future Energy Summit 2026 is mandatory and available through the official event website.
