Abu Dhabi Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT), along with its affiliated entities, has launched a series of programs and events for the ‘UAE Innovates’ month in February that supports the concept of innovation across Abu Dhabi as a vital strategic element for the future.

DMT has created a microsite that recognizes and promotes innovators, creators, and community contributions while encouraging everyone to contribute to Abu Dhabi’s long-term growth.

Residents can visit the website to gain knowledge about training and awareness workshops and competitions that recognize innovators. The new webpage will feature the most important initiatives and events that focus on creativity and innovation.

The Department’s most important projects and innovative systems, and those of the municipalities of Abu Dhabi City, Al Ain City and Al Dhafra Region, and the Integrated Transport Centre, will be featured in a virtual exhibition. Additionally, it highlights some of the unique ideas and initiatives of the Abu Dhabi Police and Tatweer Middle East and Africa (MEA) developed for Abu Dhabi’s residents.

“Our commitment to achieving the UAE Centennial Vision 2071, which entails our investment in developing minds and resources to improve our operations, adopt innovative practices, and employ smart and sustainable technologies, has contributed to and shall continue to empower us to confront challenges and transform them into opportunities to build a prosperous future for all who live in the UAE and chart a bright roadmap for future generations.”

The Department also hosts the ‘Abu Dhabi Innovator’ competition across the month of innovation, which allows DMT and its affiliated entities’ employees to share new ideas or unique scientific research that could positively benefit Abu Dhabi. A panel of experts will evaluate the ideas and their implementation feasibility to select the winners.

DMT also registers these ideas in the names of participants as part of a program that stimulates entrepreneurship and the investment of new ideas based on the participants’ experiences, abilities, and understanding of operations.

The DMT has further developed the Creativity and Innovation Management System, Ebdaa, to incorporate participation and suggestions from all cities and regions and all segments of society of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
