The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) has signed a strategic partnership with Biocom California to strengthen cooperation between Abu Dhabi’s and California’s life sciences ecosystems.
Biocom California is one of the world’s largest life sciences associations, representing more than 1,800 biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and medical technology organizations.
The agreement establishes a framework for collaboration between the two organizations and strengthens links between innovators, researchers, investors, and entrepreneurs in both markets.
Under the partnership, DoH and Biocom California will exchange expertise on life sciences ecosystems and cluster development.
The cooperation will include sharing industry best practices, policy insights, and operational experience to support innovation and the growth of life sciences activities in Abu Dhabi and California.
The agreement also connects California’s life sciences community with Abu Dhabi’s Health, Endurance, Longevity, and Medicine (HELM) Cluster.
The collaboration provides companies with opportunities to develop, validate, and expand healthcare innovations across both markets.
Through Biocom California, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and medical technology companies in the United States will have access to Abu Dhabi’s life sciences ecosystem and its living lab model, where research, validation, and implementation are carried out within an integrated environment.
Dr. Noura Khamis Al Ghaithi Undersecretary – DoH-Abu Dhabi
“Through this partnership with Biocom, we are creating a direct bridge between Abu Dhabi’s intelligent life sciences ecosystem and one of the world’s leading centers of life sciences innovation. For innovators, researchers, and investors, this creates new opportunities to access Abu Dhabi’s living lab for intelligent life sciences, where scientific discoveries can be translated into real-world impact faster and at scale.”
Joe Panetta, President Emeritus of Biocom California, remarked that, “Biocom is honored to be partnering with the DoH under this important MoU. The Abu Dhabi life science ecosystem is strategically focused and well supported for the creation of promising new and innovative life science therapies. Under this MoU we look forward to cooperating jointly in events, providing opportunities to find partners for companies in both California and Abu Dhabi and connecting Abu Dhabi to our other partners.”
