The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has completed its first intensive capacity building program aimed at preparing Emirati experts in leadership and excellence for top functional positions at DEWA.

The program helps graduates develop their divisions based on the criteria and requirements of the government excellence system, and the Dubai Government Excellence Program (DGEP) of the General Secretariat of the Executive Council of Dubai.

The program, which was supervised by specialists in corporate excellence and in DEWA’s main technical and administrative areas, attracted 21 trainees from different DEWA divisions. Hands-on training in simulating evaluation processes and preparing evaluation reports was provided as part of the program.

Mr. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, stated that DEWA’s excellence in corporate maturity and the accumulated knowledge of its leaders in assessment were all factors that enabled the organization to become one of the most recognized and distinguished global utilities.

“We continue to increase our efforts to prepare Emirati leaders to anticipate and shape the future as well as keep pace with rapid changes, global opportunities and challenges. This ensures preserving our gains and making new achievements. The wise vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, is a roadmap that guides us in our work to achieve the number one rank in all areas and be prepared for the post COVID-19 phase.

DEWA was one of the first government entities to receive the DGEP award in the 4G Government Excellence category in 2017. It also won 5 awards at the Dubai Government Excellence Awards 2021, including the most prestigious, Elite Award, which is awarded to government entities that score 600 points or more.
