Abu Dhabi-based defense and technology group EDGE has launched EDGE Europe, a French-registered company headquartered in Paris, expanding its footprint across Europe’s defense and technology sectors.
The new company has been established as a European commercial entity focused on industrial partnerships, technology development, and defense capability programs.
EDGE Europe aims to support collaboration between governments, industry, research institutions, and technology companies while contributing to the development and production of defense technologies in Europe.
Operations in France
EDGE Europe will operate from two locations in France: its headquarters in Paris and an engineering and manufacturing facility in Bordeaux.
The Paris office, located in the Chaillot district, will focus on government relations, partnerships, investment activities, and regional business development.
The Bordeaux site will support engineering, manufacturing, systems integration, and technology development activities.
Bordeaux is a key center for France’s aerospace and defense industries, with an established supply chain covering propulsion systems, composites, avionics, and advanced manufacturing. The city is also home to several universities and research institutions that provide access to engineering and technical talent.
Focus on industrial cooperation
Faisal Abdulaziz Al Bannai, Adviser to the UAE President for Strategic Research and Advanced Technology Affairs and Chairman of EDGE Group, said that the company intends to work closely with European partners and contribute to the region’s defense industrial base.
Al Bannai noted that EDGE Europe combines the capabilities of an established industrial group with a technology-focused approach, enabling the company to work with partners on the development and delivery of defense solutions.
Al Bannai added that the decision to establish the company’s headquarters in Paris reflects the longstanding relationship between the UAE and France and supports EDGE’s plans to expand cooperation with partners across Europe.
Defense and technology capabilities
EDGE Europe will offer capabilities across a range of sectors, including autonomous systems, artificial intelligence, electronic warfare, communications, sensors, propulsion technologies, and air, naval, and land platforms.
The company said its ability to work across multiple operational domains allows it to integrate technologies and systems to meet the requirements of defense customers.
EDGE Europe plans to collaborate with established defense companies, emerging technology firms, universities, and research centers to support technology development and industrial cooperation.
EDGE’s expansion in Europe builds on investments and partnerships already established across the region.
The group holds stakes in Milrem Robotics in Estonia, ANAVIA in Switzerland, and Flaris in Poland, while also pursuing the planned acquisition of CMD in Italy.
The company has established joint ventures with Fincantieri and Indra Sistemas and maintains strategic partnerships with Leonardo and Safran.
According to EDGE, these investments and partnerships provide access to expertise in autonomous systems, propulsion technologies, and air and naval platforms, while supporting cooperation across European supply chains.
EDGE Europe plans to recruit and develop talent in Europe and create engineering, manufacturing, and technology-focused roles.
The company also intends to support research and development activities and expand its industrial capabilities within the region.
The technologies developed and produced through EDGE Europe will be aimed at serving customers in Europe as well as selected international markets.
