Expo Centre Sharjah explores ways to boost cooperation with ICDT

UAE’s premier exhibition facility Expo Centre Sharjah (ECS) has discussed means of developing joint work in the field of economic exhibitions and conferences with the Islamic Centre for Development of Trade (ICDT).

Further, both parties explored ways to enhance bilateral cooperation to develop trade and investment among the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), by tapping into the Expo Centre’s great expertise in organizing exhibitions and trade events.

“The meeting aims to exchange views on benefiting from experiences and facilities available to each side, which would help advance the exhibition and conference sector in the Arab and Islamic world and its role in serving Arab states, introducing investment opportunities in the Arab and Islamic world, and opening new markets for the products and industries of OIC member states. Expo Centre is keen to provide all forms of support and facilities to Arab and Islamic companies wishing to participate in the events organized by the center, in order to help them enhance their presence in regional markets.”

Furthermore, the two sides discussed steps to increase the participation of the business community from Arab and Islamic countries in the Emirate of Sharjah’s exhibitions and to expand bilateral cooperation in this important sector.

Ms. Latifa El-Bouabdellawi, Director-General of ICDT, has stated that the cooperation with the Expo Centre Sharjah is an added value to the ICDT by providing support to the Member States in organizing exhibitions and trade events in the Emirate of Sharjah.

“This would assist promote Islamic countries’ and OIC’s Arab member states’ products and services, allowing them to enter new markets,” Ms. El-Bouabdellawi noted.

ICDT is a subsidiary of the OIC entrusted with the mission of promoting trade and investments among the 57 member states of the OIC countries.
