Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) has launched its Summer 2026 awareness campaign, ‘We Want It to Last’, aimed at promoting responsible electricity and water consumption and strengthening environmental sustainability across Qatari society.
The We Want It to Last campaign coincides with the summer season, when electricity and water demand typically rises due to increased use of air-conditioning systems, placing additional pressure on the power network and driving higher peak-hour loads.
KAHRAMAA said the initiative seeks to encourage sustainable behavioral change by raising awareness about efficient resource use, supporting electricity network stability, reducing carbon emissions, and contributing to Qatar’s sustainable development goals.
The three-month campaign, running from June to August 2026, We Want It to Last program will feature community challenges, field activities, digital awareness initiatives, and partnerships with government and private sector entities to drive public engagement.
KAHRAMAA stated that the We Want It to Last campaign’s core messages focus on improving air-conditioning efficiency, avoiding the use of high-load electrical appliances during peak hours between 12:00 PM and 6:00 PM, increasing the adoption of energy-efficient appliances, and repairing water leaks to reduce wastage.
Strategic pillars of ‘We Want It to Last’ summer 2026 campaign
The ‘We Want It to Last’ campaign is built around four key pillars:
Electric Load Management: Raising awareness on distributing the use of high-load electrical appliances and avoiding their operation during peak hours.
Improving Building and Appliance Efficiency: Encouraging the use of energy-efficient appliances and smart systems to optimize consumption.
Conserving Water Consumption and Air Conditioning Use: Promoting best practices, including setting optimal air-conditioning temperatures and adopting modern irrigation technologies.
Transition Towards Smart Behavior: Leveraging smart technologies and solutions to monitor and manage consumption more efficiently.
The corporation emphasized that the success of the campaign depends on community awareness and active participation, noting that small changes in consumption habits can generate significant long-term benefits.
KAHRAMAA added that the ‘We Want It to Last’ campaign serves as a national call for individuals to help preserve natural resources, enhance quality of life, and ensure resource sustainability for future generations.
