Fujairah Chamber explores ways to strengthen economic ties with Iraqi delegation

Fujairah Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Chairman Sheikh Saeed bin Suroor Al Sharqi has explored the importance of expanding their relations in various sectors with the delegation from the Union of Iraqi Importers and Exporters of Iraq’s Kurdistan Region, headed by Mr. Kailan Saeed Aziz, Director of the Union’s Erbil branch.

During the meeting, Mr. Al Sharqi has emphasized the UAE and Iraq’s significant links in a variety of fields. He also highlighted the Chamber’s desire to strengthen links between Fujairah company owners and their Iraqi counterparts by exchanging expertise and ideas in order to foster new economic and commercial collaboration opportunities.

Mr. Humaid Mohammed bin Salem, Secretary-General of the Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Sultan Jumai Al Handasi, Director-General of the Fujairah Chamber, and directors of local departments in the emirate, as well as officials from both sides, attended the meeting.

According to Mr. Al Handasi, the Emirate of Fujairah is transforming and offering attractive industrial investment opportunities because of its richness in resources, such as cement, ceramic, marble, rock wool, and other non-metallic mining materials.

Furthermore, he introduced attractive potential investments in the upstream and downstream business, trade, tourism, and logistics, which are supported by the favorable investment climate and modern infrastructure.

Mr. Al Handasi added that the chamber will ensure that facilities are provided for Iraqi businessmen intending to create enterprises in the emirate, saying that this measure will assist promote cooperation across economic sectors, increase trade, and attract more investment.

For his part, Mr. Aziz has praised the UAE’s remarkable developmental achievements and expressed his willingness to assist Fujairah-based firms in doing business in the Kurdistan Region.
