Jameel Motors, an international mobility solutions provider, has collaborated with WeRide, a company specializing in autonomous driving technology, to support the expansion of autonomous mobility services in the United Arab Emirates.

Under the collaboration, Jameel Motors will support the deployment of WeRide’s Robotaxi GXR fleet through its investment in Farizon Auto electric vehicles.

Farizon Auto is the commercial vehicle division of Geely Holding Group. The partnership combines WeRide’s autonomous driving technology with Jameel Motors’ fleet investment capabilities to facilitate the rollout of autonomous transport services in the UAE.

The Robotaxi GXR is built on the Farizon SV platform and is designed for urban transportation applications.

The vehicle features a spacious cabin, a safety-focused architecture, and operating efficiencies suited to city environments. It also incorporates a hidden B-pillar design aimed at improving passenger accessibility.

In 2025, the Farizon SV received a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating and was named a finalist for the International Van of the Year (IVOTY) award.

Under the agreement, WeRide will provide the autonomous driving technology, while Jameel Motors will invest in the Robotaxi fleet.

The arrangement supports the commercial deployment of driverless transport services in Dubai and aligns with WeRide’s asset-light operating model, under which partners contribute fleet investments and operational resources while WeRide focuses on autonomous technology and platform development.

In December 2025, supervised autonomous vehicle trials were conducted in the emirate, followed by the issuance of a driverless vehicle permit for WeRide’s Robotaxi service in February 2026.

Since March 31, 2026, WeRide has been operating fully driverless Robotaxi services on selected routes in Jumeirah and Umm Suqeim using vehicles supplied by Jameel Motors.

As autonomous mobility services expand, operational readiness, fleet management, service quality, and coordination among industry participants are becoming increasingly important to support large-scale deployment.

The companies said that the collaboration is intended to support the practical deployment and long-term growth of autonomous transport services in Dubai and, over time, other parts of the UAE.

“Autonomous mobility is entering an exciting new phase in Dubai, moving from testing and pilot programs into full commercialization and real, city-scale services. Through our collaboration with WeRide, Jameel Motors is proud to support the enablement of a scalable and reliable ecosystem that underpins this transition, strengthens customer trust, and delivers real value across the wider transport landscape in support of the UAE’s ambitious vision for the future of mobility.”

The cooperation aligns with Dubai’s plans to expand the use of autonomous transportation as part of its long-term mobility strategy. The emirate aims to make 25 percent of all journeys autonomous by 2030 under initiatives led by the Dubai Future Foundation.
