Riyadh: Saudi Arabia’s median mobile internet download speed reached 216 Mbps in 2025, placing the Kingdom among the top five G20 countries for mobile internet performance, according to the fifth edition of the Saudi Internet Report 2025 issued by the Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST).
The report highlighted continued improvements in the Kingdom’s digital infrastructure, with mobile internet speeds increasing from 203 Mbps in the previous period. It also showed strong growth in digital consumption, with average mobile data usage reaching 53 GB per person per month, around three times the global average.
Median 5G download speed in Saudi Arabia reached 320 Mbps, with a latency rate of 24 milliseconds, reflecting the continued expansion and performance of advanced mobile networks.
Fixed internet performance also improved, with median download speeds rising to 151 Mbps from 120.4 Mbps. Upload speeds reached 73 Mbps, while latency stood at 8 milliseconds, based on Ookla data.
The report showed that total internet data traffic in Saudi Arabia reached 69 million terabytes, with 56 percent of traffic generated domestically and 44 percent internationally. Mobile and fixed networks each accounted for 50 percent of total data traffic.
The Riyadh Region recorded the highest share of internet data traffic at 30.6 percent, followed by the Makkah Region at 20.5 percent and the Eastern Region at 16.8 percent.
Saudi Arabia’s IPv6 protocol activation rate reached 67 percent among users, with around 200 Saudi Autonomous System Numbers (ASN) registered online, highlighting the Kingdom’s progress in strengthening digital connectivity and network capabilities.
The report comes as Saudi Arabia ranked first among 159 economies in the International Telecommunication Union’s 2026 ICT Development Index, reflecting the Kingdom’s continued advancement in digital infrastructure, connectivity and technology adoption.
